Melinda has supported families in the IEP and 504 process and can help children with different learning styles and emotional needs. She is knowledgeable of the process to help children receive services if developmental issues arise. She was a foster parent for many years and adopted three of her foster children. She is skilled in helping families adjust with major life changes due to adoption as well as death and divorce. She believes in a person-centered approach when starting therapy and works collaboratively with the individuals, couples or families to meet their goals and needs. She is trained in the Gottman Method for couples counseling. Her therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in the Gestalt Theory that focuses on the importance of each person’s unique experience and how that experience has shaped their life. She uses this theory and trauma informed care to deliver therapy with empathy and validation. All are welcome!
